Honest opinions and reviews
Main Post:
Be brutally honest, I want to know the pros and cons for each major phone brands like Apple, Samsung, Google Pixle, Huawei, Oppo and Vivo.
Tell me your opinions and experiences with this Smartphone brands if their worth the money, lifespan and good customer service?
And also, is the budget friendly phone brands good and trusted? Like Xiaomi, Infinix and Tecno.
Top Comment: Have used Apple, Google, OnePlus & Samsung. I have a OnePlus 13 as my personal device & iPhone 15 Pro Max as a work device. OnePlus devices offer great value for the price that you pay. You get great specs, good cameras for a really good price. I really like the device and it deserves the praise it gets from reviewers. I daily the iPhone 15 Pro Max for work, it's a good device but my praise of the device stops at the hardware, all my gripes about this device is because of iOS. If you daily both Android & iOS, outside of ecosystem integration, iOS is inferior to Android in the important ways like text manipulation & input (iOS keyboards are just inferior & text selection is aggravating), notifications are a mess as you can't collapse them (which is a big problem as a work device if you're the type that receives lots of emails) and the lack of universal back breaks the workflow. Sometimes swiping from the left works, sometimes it doesn't & requires the use of a small back button on the top left, it lacks consistency. For a company praised for UX design, it absolutely fails on the fact that they never fixed this UX flaw. Google makes solid phones, yes, the Tensor has its teething pains & yes, it's not as performant as Snapdragon's best chips but frankly unless you're a mobile gamer, I think Tensor processors are just fine. For the vast majority of people who isn't trying to chase the performance crown, it works smoothly. The Pixel UI is great, love the Pixel exclusive features. If the Pixel 9 Pro XL was priced better in Canada, I would have kept sticking to Pixels as I moved from the Pixel 6 to the OnePlus 13. Even with the modem issues of the Pixel 6 where it's just inefficient, I really liked my time with the Pixel 6 & it's now even better with the Pixel 9 series. I tested the 9a when setting it up for a family member and it's a well built device, modem issues were completely resolved, it has a newer Exynos 5300 revision modem. Samsung can be a great choice, I used to use them but I haven't found anything really enticing about them, OnePlus has better value & Pixel has great software. Samsung is great for the masses & a safe recommendation but nothing really stands out unless you go for their niche devices like foldables.

Phone Insurance Reviews
Main Post:
I've signed up to Monzo premium for one thing, phone insurance, I thought it was totally worth it for the cost.
Forward on to today where it's been nearly 2 weeks since I made a claim through assurant, my claim is referred (Vodafone error) and every time I call for an update I'm told the same info "I need to wait"
Has anyone got any experience with Assurant? They don't seem very helpful and just keep telling me to wait.
Wish I had carried on with Vodafone direct now for the bit extra but wanted the flexibility with Monzo.
Top Comment: If it makes you feel any better. I have mine through NatWest and it did take a couple of weeks.

Top Comment: Best security: Probably Samsung or Google Pixel Best to root and download other OS on it: Pixel, Nothing Phone, Fairphone Best brand for ecosystem if you want a smart watch with it: Samsung or Pixel again Best overall if you take all 3 things into consideration: Pixel, was the only in the 3 categories. Newer Samsungs with Knox are very secure, encrypted, but rooting or using custom Roms trigger an hardware fuse that disables Knox completely (not sure if it's only one of them, if I'm wrong feel free to correct me), and some apps can stop working (normally banking and streaming apps)
Which is the most reliable smartphone reviewer ?
Main Post:
Coming from s23u and looking mainly for camera. Comparing Magic5Pro,Mi13U, Oppo Find X6 pro/x7 ultra and here I am! Super confused. Where can I find a genuine, authentic, reliable and unsponsored opinion? In my experience, for one person’s gem its a brick for other. In those ocean of reviewers, it is extremely hard to get a “real” and unbiased opinion. What do you all refer to ?
You have my gratitude and appreciation. Plz do your magic.
Top Comment: Fundamentally you can't escape opinions. All of the reviewers are giving opinions based on their biased perceptions. All you can do is hear out the different opinions and form your own. Look for objective info that relates to you. For example, if a few say connectivity/reception is weak on a particular device and you know service is poor where you live, that's info to take notice of, cuz your experience would suck if that phone has poor service all the time. Even with conflicting conclusions, views on particular features will overlap, and if the strengths of a phone match with your preferences you know you have a winner. If you can't be bothered with all that just pick a few to trust whether pro reviewers or friends and just go with their conclusions.
Where do you go to look at phone reviews?
Main Post:
I've had my M7 for almost four years now and it's starting to crap out on me. I didn't want to solely rely on the purchase Thursday threads to make my decision on a new phone but I'm not sure which reviewers are more credible than others, do you guys have any suggestions?
Edit: Man I've never looked into so many phones in one day, I thought this was going to be easy. Maybe I'm just overthinking since I'm a pretty average consumer. Let the grind continue tomorrow.
Edit 2: Wow was not expecting this much traffic, I'll have to tally your responses and see who came out on top. For now it seems like the Axon 7, Z Play, M9, and Idol 4S/Honor 8 are the main contenders. If only the OP3T was cheaper, anyone happen to know when the price will drop?
Edit 3: Seems like not too many people like the M9. Probably going to go with the Axon 7 or Honor 8
Edit 4: Made up my mind, decided on the Axon 7. Thanks again everyone for your input! See you in Nougat!
Top Comment: Pocketnow, MrMobile, Phonebuff, flossy. All of which are youtube channels.
Considering the overall value for money, which smartphone offers the best combination of features, performance, and durability in 2024?

Top Comment: Once the new EU directive on repairability comes into effect, we should be going back to replaceable batteries and companies will be required to fix phone screens and stuff at a reasonable price. I'm hoping it won't be viable to have EU only and ROW models so at least the batteries will filter out to everyone.
Best Android Smartphone

What is the best Android smartphone for prioritizing camera, battery life, and durability?
Looking for a phone that can last 5+ years, has minimal problems.
Anything competing with S23/S24 Ultra?
Top Comment: Samsung S24 Ultra is just a solid choice. It's doesn't have the best camera or battery life, but all round it's probably the best. Phones like Honor Magic 6 Pro and OnePlus 12 have much better battery life and can compete in photography, but probably less smoother software. Pixels have good cameras but they have awful battery life and their processors are far behind any other flagships right now. To put it into perspective, their Tensor G3 is weaker than the 8+ gen 1 from 2 years ago... Oppo Find X7 Ultra/Vivo X100 Pro/Xiaomi 14 Ultra have the best cameras on any phone, but their software may not be to your liking. Overall I would say the Vivo X100 Pro is the best all round android, but since it's so hard to buy internationally and the software is more chinese-esque, I'll recommend the S24 Ultra. However if you want to save a few hundred dollars/euros you can easily go for the Honor Magic 6 Pro or OnePlus 12, you won't miss out on much besides the S-pen, and you'll get better battery life.
